Dr. Narong Sirilertworakul

Chairman of ENTEC Executive Board
National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC)

Global energy consumption continues to grow due to population growth, urban expansion and economic growth. Daily energy consumption is rising especially fossil fuel consumption of cars and trucks. Meanwhile, climate change is one of the most urgent issues that requires global cooperation. With the importance of low-carbon energy technology development, clean energy, and nation’s energy efficiency enhancement, the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) has found it necessary to establish the National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC). ENTEC was then established on June 9, 2020 by the Thai Cabinet.

ENTEC is a leading organization for Thailand’s energy technology development. One of its mission is to link research and development works of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation (MHESI), the Ministry of
Energy, the Ministry of Industry and related organizations in order to support technology transfer for startups and industries. This undertaking is performed to prepare for new industries and energy innovation. ENTEC acts as a driving force in transforming energy policy into action and building knowledge, thus strengthening national energy security.

ENTEC Executive Board is a panel consisting of distinguished representatives from public and private sectors; its primary roles are to provide a guiding policy, make recommendations and set the strategic objectives conforming to Thailand’s overall policy. ENTEC is a focal point for local and international energy research and development cooperation, aiming for translational research. This means that technology could be transferred to all related stakeholders using the Quadruple Helix mechanism, thus tangible impacts and efficient commercial and public utilization could be expected. ENTEC will also focus on building R&D capability, developing technology and fostering innovation to increase its visibility at international level.

On behalf of the Executive Board, I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to all the executives, researchers, and personel, as well as energy research organizations in both public and private sectors, educational institutions, and international energy research network. The collaborative endeavor help carrying out high-quality works for commercial and public use. I wish ENTEC work will have a positive impact on all sectors and dimensions, local and international, namely, politics, economy, society, technology, and environment.
