On May 20, 2025, at the Pathumwan Princess Hotel, Bangkok<\/span><\/p>

The National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), led by Dr. Visarn Lilavivat, senior researcher from the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Team, Mr. Phumanan Niyomna, research assistant, and Dr. Pornpimon Boonkum, researcher from the Technology and Informatics Institute for Sustainability (TIIS), attended the 1st Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) Meeting of the project \u201cUtilization Technology of Rubber Seeds for Green Products to Mitigate Global Warming and Plastic Pollution.\u201d<\/span><\/p>

The meeting was held in collaboration with Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (TUAT), Osaka Metropolitan University (OMU), and other institutions from Japan, together with Chulalongkorn University and Kasetsart University, under the SATREPS (Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development) framework.<\/span><\/p>

During the meeting, participants discussed research efforts focused on utilizing rubber seeds, including their processing into oil, advanced chemical products, and assessments of impacts in various dimensions, with the aim of adding value to products derived from rubber seeds.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Project Overview:
<\/span>This 5-year research project (2024\u20132029) aims to develop technology for transforming rubber seeds\u2014byproducts of the rubber industry that are often discarded\u2014into biobased materials and energy sources. The project aligns with Thailand\u2019s BCG (Bio-Circular-Green Economy) policy, which emphasizes carbon neutrality and reducing economic and industrial inequality.<\/span><\/p>

Main Objectives of the Project:<\/span><\/p>

  • Reduce Environmental Impact: Mitigate plastic pollution and carbon emissions by creating biodegradable alternatives from rubber seed oil (RSO)<\/span><\/li>
  • Promote Economic Equity: Increase the income of rubber farmers by creating new revenue streams through the utilization of rubber seeds<\/span><\/li>
  • Enhance Resource Efficiency: Develop a sustainable supply chain for rubber seeds, including collection systems and processing technologies<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

    This project represents another important step in promoting environmentally friendly innovation and strengthening Thailand\u2013Japan collaboration in driving forward a sustainable future.<\/span><\/p>
