National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC) organized a seminar for the dissemination of results from project \u201cA Study of the Use of Biodiesel in Light Duty Diesel Vehicles with EURO5 Emission Standard\u201d. On this occasion, ENTEC Assistant Executive Director Dr. Lily Eurwilaichitr and Director of Low Carbon Energy Research Group (LCRG) welcomed Deputy Director General of Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency (DEDE, Ministry of Energy) Mr. Suree Jaroonsak, Pollution Control Department\u2019s Director of Vehicle Pollution Section Ms. Noochjariya Aransri, and participants from government and private organizations, research institutes, supply chain representatives from automotive manufacturing and oil and gas industries, biodiesel producers and academic institutions.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

\u201cI would like to congratulate the team from ENTEC for their achievement on this project which leads to the dissemination today. The implementation of EURO 5 Emissions Standard in Thailand is due to start from 1 January 2024; and the result from this study proves that emissions, such as CO2, from the light-duty EURO 5-compliant diesel test vehicles fueled by any of the test diesel blends were lower than the permitted emission values defined by national standards. EURO 5-compliant biodiesel and diesel vehicles greatly help reducing pollution. The implementation of biodiesel, a clean liquid fuel produced from biological products such as plant-based oils or animal fat, also supports Thai agricultural industry\u201d, said DEDE Deputy Director General Mr. Suree Jaroonsak in his opening remarks.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

ENTEC Assistant Executive Director Dr. Lily Eurwilaichitr gave a brief introduction of the project. \u201cBy appointment of the Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency (DEDE, Ministry of Energy), sponsored by Energy Conservation Fund, the project was conducted by National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), on behalf of National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), together with several partners. The project involved extensive test drives of 3 biodiesel blends \u2013 7%, 10% and 20% biodiesel \u2013 with light-duty EURO 5-compliant vehicles. The team collected and analyzed data for fuel-associated impacts on the vehicle. Following project\u2019s official start and kick-off meeting on 29 August 2022, the test vehicles have already travelled a mileage of over 90,000 kilometers and are still fully functioning without issues on performance, emissions, and fuel consumption. The findings from this project greatly facilitates public understanding toward the effects of biodiesel on modern diesel vehicles and the growth of trust, especially from consumers, which in turn would bring benefits to a wider circle \u2013 encouraging and attracting cooperation from automotive and oil and gas industries to push forward eco-friendly products and solutions.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
