Though the trend around the world is shifting from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources, the research and development on conventional energy maintains its necessity. The transition toward renewable energy requires significant amount of time. During the transition period, fossil fuels will still be the major supply of energy, and they should be used in a wise and environmental-friendly manner.
ENTEC works with our partners to maintain and strengthen the R&D capacity in conventional energy. Research topics include development of catalysts to eliminate pollutants and improve the quality of diesel fuel, green chemistry to eliminate hazardous substances from oil and gas production, development of selective absorbents to eliminate carbon dioxide in liquid natural gas, and improvement of byproducts from coal-fired power plants. The scope of research would be further extended to address the issue of PM2.5 which is currently one of the hottest environmental issues.
