National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC) and the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC) Welcome Delegates from VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd and the Embassy of Finland in Bangkok

On October 3, 2024, at Meeting Room M119, MTEC Building, National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA)

The National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC) and the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC) welcomed a distinguished delegation from VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd and the Embassy of Finland in Bangkok. Dr. Sumittra Charojrochkul, Executive Director of ENTEC, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Toemsak Srikhirin, Executive Director of MTEC, led the welcoming ceremony alongside with Dr. Lily Eurwilaichitr, Assistant Executive Director, and the MTEC research teams. The meeting focused on establishing strategic partnerships and exploring potential research collaborations in Circular Economy and Sustainable Energy Development.

During the meeting, both ENTEC and MTEC directors delivered welcome remarks and provided overviews of their centers’ research works. Mr. Kai Tuorila, Trade and Investment Counsellor from the Embassy of Finland in Bangkok, expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to meet and engage in discussions. Following this, Mr. Antti Kojola, Solution Sales Lead from the Foresight and Data Economy group at VTT, presented an overview of VTT, Finland’s leading state research institute. VTT focuses on research and innovation, emphasizing the commercial and social applications of research and technology, while providing crucial technological insights for national policy development.

The organizations discussed potential research collaborations in carbon neutrality, digital technology, and sustainable materials and product development. Areas of interest included energy reduction technologies in fiber and paper industries, plastic and textile recycling, biomass-based materials and energy development, carbon capture technologies, and the promotion of technology adoption in industrial sectors. This meeting marks an excellent opportunity for future networking and represents a significant step toward technological cooperation between Thailand and Finland in addressing global sustainability challenges.
