On October 18, 2024, at Room M119, National Metal and Materials Technology Center Building
National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC) welcomed leading researchers from renowned Energy Research Institutes in the United States for a laboratory visit and discussions on cooperation to drive clean energy technology. On this occasion, On this occasion, ENTEC executives led by Dr. Sumitra Charojrochkul, Executive Director, along with Dr. Lily Eurwilaichitr, Assistant Executive Director, Dr. Pimpa Limthongkul, Director of Energy Innovation Research Group, and Dr. Nuwong Chollacoop, Director of the Low Carbon Energy Research Group, welcomed Dr. Gao Liu, Senior Scientist and Group Leader of the Applied Energy Materials Group from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBL), and Mr. Kosol Kiatreungwattana, Senior Engineer from the Energy Security and Resilience Center, National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), USA. They discussed the Net Zero World Initiative, a global collaboration aimed at helping countries achieve climate goals and accelerate the transition to net zero greenhouse gas emissions.
Subsequently, Dr. Pimpa presented an overview of NSTDA and ENTEC, and discussed research on battery material development, safety standard development, and concept of battery repurposing (BESS Repurposing). Additionally, Dr. Nattanai Kunanusont, Dr. Ukrit Sahapatsombut, Dr. Thanya Phraewpipat, and Dr. Yaowamarn Chuminjak, researchers, led the delegation on a tour of the Energy Storage Technology Laboratory, showcasing research on material production, battery assembly, and battery testing, as well as battery recycling technologies. This marked a significant step in building global partnerships to address energy challenges, which will lead to expanding collaborative research and innovation efforts that will help Thailand achieve its net zero greenhouse gas emissions goal sustainably.
