December 17-20, 2024, at Border Patrol Police School Benchama 1, in Mueang Haeng, Wiang Haeng, Chiang Mai
The National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC) organized field visits to marginalized communities and schools, aiming to equipped local residents with practical skills in assembling and installing LED lighting systems.
The ICT for Lifelong Learning Project for Marginalized Communities, initiated under the Royal Initiative of The Office of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, received funding from the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) through the Information Technology Foundation under the Initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. Dr. Aswin Hongsingthong, a researcher, along with expert engineers from the Solar Photovoltaic Technology Research Team at ENTEC, conducted workshops on “DIY LED Lighting Systems for Community Self-Reliance.”
The program specifically targeted local residents from over 100 households who lack proper lighting facilities. This initiative focuses on building community capacity for sustainable lighting solutions through hands-on training to install household lighting systems safely and correctly on their own. Additionally, the team conducted site surveys and maintained solar power generation systems and telemetry equipment.
These activities received consistent and close support from the Border Patrol Police (BPP), who facilitated the implementation of programs in these areas. The project demonstrates a comprehensive approach to bringing sustainable lighting solutions to marginalized communities while empowering them with practical skills and knowledge.
