2025.01.09 ENTEC, NSTDA Participates in Panel Discussion on “Nuclear Contribution to achieving Net-Zero”

Dr. Sumittra Charojrochkul, Executive Director of National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC) under the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), attended the 2024 Annual Academic Conference and General Assembly of the Nuclear Society of Thailand.

During the event, Dr. Sumittra participated as a honorable speaker in a panel discussion titled “Nuclear Contribution to achieving Net-Zero” alongside distinguished panelists including Ms. Nantida Rachatawetchakul, Director of Power Policy Division, Energy Policy and Planning Office, Dr. Nateekool Kriangchaiporn, Senior Nuclear Engineer from the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, and Mr. Rongphet Bunchualdee, Deputy Executive Director of Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Kampanart Silva, a researcher from the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Research Team, Low Carbon Energy Research Group.

The discussion aimed to enhance understanding of Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technology’s potential in driving Thailand toward its net-zero emissions goal. ENTEC and its partner organizations expressed their readiness to support research and development initiatives, as well as prepare workforce development plans and infrastructure policies to facilitate the transition to clean energy.

As part of the event, the Office of Atoms for Peace provided participants and speakers with an opportunity to visit the National Emergency Command Center for Nuclear and Radiological Situations.
