On February 21, 2025, at the National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA)
National Energy Technology center (ENTEC) together with National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC), NSTDA hosted the NSTDA-OSAKA University Collaborative Research on Microbial Products for Industry, Energy and Environment online event in partnership with the Institute for Open and Transdisciplinary Research Initiative (OTRI), Osaka University. This program, focused on advancing microbial products for industry, energy, and environmental sustainability, brought together experts from both Thailand and Japan. The event featured a series of insightful presentations on microbial production, applications, lipid production, biofuels, and future perspectives, showcasing the strength of this long-standing collaboration.
The event began with an inspiring welcome address from the Executive Director of ENTEC, Dr. Sumittra Charojrochkul, who highlighted the importance of continued innovation in microbial research and the contribution toward energy technology research. Dr. Lily Eurwilaichitr, Assistant Executive Director of ENTEC, expertly guided the event as the emcee and presented on “Microbial Power Unleashed: Transforming Energy and Environment.” The session featured distinguished speakers from Osaka University and BIOTEC, NSTDA, covering a range of topics from yeast-based expression systems for vaccine development and energy conversion from industrial waste.
The program concluded with closing remarks from Professor Dr. Kazuhito Fujiyama, Director of ICBiotec at Osaka University, who praised the successful exchange of knowledge and innovative ideas. With over 60 participants from across Thailand, Japan, and ASEAN, the event served as a testament to the growing impact of the NSTDA-Osaka University partnership, fostering further advancements in microbial research for sustainable industrial applications, energy and environment.
