2025.08.20 ENTEC and NANOTEC Welcome Delegation from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Thailand for Research Discussions and Laboratory Visit

On August 20, 2025, at the 4th South Boardroom, INC2-C Building, Thailand Science Park

The National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC) and the National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC), under the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), jointly hosted a visit from a delegation of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Thailand. The visit aimed to strengthen bilateral ties in scientific research, particularly in the fields of energy technology and nanotechnology, and to explore future opportunities for collaboration between NSTDA and the People’s Republic of China.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by executives from ENTEC and NANOTEC, including
Dr. Sumittra Charojrochkul, Executive Director of ENTEC, Dr. Pimpa Limthongkul, Director of the Energy Innovation Research Group, ENTEC, Dr. Uracha Ruktanonchai, Executive Director of NANOTEC, and Ms. Sansanee Huabsomboon, Deputy Director of NANOTEC.

During the meeting, Dr. Sumittra presented an overview of ENTEC’s strategic focus and core missions. Dr. Pimpa followed with a detailed presentation on ENTEC’s latest research and innovations in energy storage systems, highlighting opportunities for collaboration with Chinese private-sector partners, particularly in the areas of electric vehicles and battery management.

After the meeting, the delegation toured research facilities at both NANOTEC and ENTEC. At ENTEC, Dr. Pimpa led the group through the Energy Storage Technology Laboratory, followed by a visit to ENTEC’s CAS-NSTDA Joint Research Project. This initiative, carried out in partnership with the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMCAS), and NSTDA’s BIOTEC, focuses on the development of high-performance, cost-effective microbial fuel cells. These innovative technologies are designed for dual purposes: wastewater treatment and sustainable electricity generation.

The visit garnered great interest from the Chinese delegation, who actively engaged in technical discussions and shared insights throughout the program. Both sides expressed enthusiasm about future collaboration in research and development, particularly in areas of shared strategic importance.
