On 21 October 2025, the National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), in collaboration with the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA), advanced the expansion of “EnPAT,” a safe, Thai palm-oil-based transformer oil in Ubon Ratchathani. The EnPAT-filled transformer was installed in Hua Ruea Subdistrict, Mueang Ubon Ratchathani District, Ubon Ratchathani Province, under the supervision of Mr. Supas Sriwilai, Manager of the PEA Ubon Ratchathani Provincial Office.
Ubon Ratchathani serves as a central hub for power grid development in the lower northeastern region and a key energy linkage point with neighboring countries in the Mekong subregion, making it a strategic location for cross-border electricity systems. The adoption of EnPAT will enhance the safety of the power distribution system and promote environmental sustainability, boosting confidence among investors, local businesses, and the general public. Moreover, it reduces reliance on petroleum-based transformer oil, aligning with future clean energy directions and laying a strong foundation for establishing the province as a “low-carbon energy model city” for the lower northeastern region.
