On January 8, 2026, at Event Hall 100–104, Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC), Bangna, Bangkok
The innovation “EnPAT: Safe Transformer Oil from Thai Oil Palm”, developed by the National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), NSTDA, has been honored with the National Research Award: Invention Award (Outstanding Level) in the field of Engineering and Industrial Research for Fiscal Year 2026. The award ceremony was took place at Thailand Inventors’ Day 2026, organized by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI).
On this occasion, Dr. Somboon Sahasithiwat, Executive Vice President of NSTDA, and Dr. Sumittra Charojrochkul, Executive Director of ENTEC, jointly congratulated the research team on receiving this prestigious national award from the NRCT. The achievement highlights Thailand’s growing excellence in energy research and innovation and reflects the country’s strong potential to develop safe, sustainable, and high-value energy technologies from domestic resources.
The award-winning initiative, “EnPAT: Safe Transformer Oil from Thai Oil Palm,” is led by Dr. Boonyawan Yoosuk, Team leader of Clean Fuel and Advanced Chemical Technology Team, Low Carbon Research Group, together with researcher teams from ENTEC and the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC).
EnPAT is a bio-based innovation that adds value to Thailand’s oil palm industry, reduces reliance on imported petroleum-based products, and enhances long-term energy security. The technology also helps generate income for agricultural communities and supports Thailand’s sustainable development and net zero goals. Currently, EnPAT has been successfully implemented by the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) and the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA). Transformers filled with EnPAT oil are now in operation in 10 locations across all regions of Thailand, supplying electricity to the public.
In addition, Dr. Parimol Tippayamalee, a postdoctoral researcher at ENTEC in Energy Storage Technology Research Team, Energy Innovation Research Group, received the NRCT Quality Achievement Award for Fiscal Year 2026. The award was given for her graduate research thesis titled “Materials Development Towards Enhanced Performance and Stability of Zinc-Iron Flow Batteries,” conducted at the Faculty of Engineering and Industrial Research, Chulalongkorn University.
ENTEC extends its heartfelt congratulations to both researchers on their outstanding achievements. Their success highlights the vital role of research and innovation in advancing Thailand’s energy technologies toward practical use and long-term sustainable development.
