On January 27, 2025, at the Sri Satchanalai Meeting Room, 5th Floor, LED Building, Provincial Electricity Authority Headquarter, Ngamwongwan Road, Bangkok
Dr. Sumittra Charojrochkul, Executive Director of the National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), along with executives from the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC), National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), and Dr. Amornrat Limmanee, Solar Photovoltaic Research Team Leader, coordinated by NSTDA’s Research Development and Innovation Network Management Department, met with Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) executives. The meeting, which included Mr. Pantong Thinsatit, Assistant Governor of Grid Operation, and Mr. Somchai Songsiri, Assistant Governor of Planning and Engineering (Planning and Power System Development), focused on discussing collaborative research and development initiatives aimed at supporting new innovations.
Dr. Sumittra presented ongoing research projects between ENTEC and PEA, which include:
- The expansion of fire-resistant bio-transformer oil (EnPAT) usage in PEA’s power distribution transformers
- Solar Sure Project: A platform for inspecting used solar panels for appropriate reuse
- The ICT for Lifelong Learning Project for Marginalized Communities, initiated under the Royal Initiative of The Office of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn
- Project on Accelerating the Adaptation and LifeCycle Solutions to Electric Mobility in Thailand
Additionally, ENTEC extended an invitation to PEA to join the Thailand Battswap consortium, a collaborative network focused on developing standardized swappable batteries for small electric vehicles. This initiative aims to collect data for the development of a standardized battery-swapping platform specifically for electric motorcycles.
PEA expressed strong interest in future research collaborations, particularly in managing the end-of-life electronic meters and providing knowledge on selecting appropriate energy storage systems for different areas.
