2024.12.03 ENTEC Shares Insights at the “Energy for All: Success Stories and Challenges in Thailand’s Rural Energy Access” Panel Discussion

On December 3, 2024, at the United Nations Conference Centre, Bangkok

The Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency (DEDE) organized the 13th International Forum on Energy for Sustainable Development (IFESD-13) at the United Nations Conference Centre. At this event, Dr. Aswin Hongsingthong, a distinguished researcher from ENTEC’s Solar Photovoltaic Research Team, delivered valuable insights during the panel discussion titled “Energy for All: Success Stories and Challenges in Thailand’s Rural Energy Access.” Dr. Aswin, representing the National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), was joined by representatives from six other energy-related organizations.

Dr. Aswin presented significant research on the design and development of an independent Stand-Alone PV/Hybrid System for electricity generation. He highlighted the ICT project supporting lifelong learning for remote communities under the initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. The pilot project covers 23 schools, reaching 200 teachers and 3,370 students.

Additionally, Dr. Aswin addressed the challenges faced in developing solar power systems and shared insights into the successes and positive outcomes of this solar power research and related energy technologies. These innovations demonstrate how sustainable energy solutions can bridge the rural-urban divide, improving quality of life by providing continuous energy access to remote areas. This work has had a tangible impact on society, benefiting education, health, quality of life, and the environment.
