2025.05.07 ENTEC, NSTDA visited the laboratory and radioactive waste storage building of the Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology (Public Organization)

The National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), led by Dr. Sumittra Charojrochkul, Executive Director, along with Dr. Pimpa Limthongkul, Director of the Energy Innovation Research Group and research teams from the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Research Team (RENT) and the Energy Storage Technology Research Team (ESTT), visited the Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology (Public Organization) (TINT) to discuss nuclear power generation technologies, nuclear batteries, and radioactive waste management. Ms. Kanokporn Boonsirichai, Deputy Executive Director of TINT, welcomed the delegation and provided an overview of the institute. Dr. Pimpa Limthongkul, expressed appreciation on behalf of the visiting delegation for TINT’s warm hospitality.

The objective of the visit was to explore potential collaborative research efforts between ENTEC, NSTDA, and TINT in the areas of nuclear power generation, nuclear batteries, and radioactive waste management. During the meeting, each organization presented its ongoing research and development activities, which included the following topics:

  1. Advanced energy storage technologies for sustainability
  2. The role of battery management systems in tokamak applications
  3. Small Modular Reactors (SMRs)
  4. Radioactive waste management in Thailand

In addition, Mr. Somsak Dangtip, Manager of Advanced Engineering and Nuclear Technology Center, led the ENTEC, NSTDA delegation on a tour of the Tokamak laboratory and the radioactive waste storage facility.
