Dr. Sumittra Charojrochkul, Executive Director of the National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), participated in a significant milestone in Thailand-UK climate cooperation, marked by the launch of the “Thailand-UK Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions (UK PACT)” program. The event attracted over 100 participants from a diverse range of organizations, including international organizations, independent bodies, government agencies, private sector entities, academia, research institutes, and the media.
The UK PACT Thailand Country Fund plays a pivotal role in fostering strategic collaboration between the United Kingdom and Thailand, following a memorandum of understanding signed in March 2024. This partnership aims to address climate change adaptation challenges, promote environmentally friendly economic growth, and develop resilient national strategies for a sustainable future. In its transition towards becoming a green nation, Thailand has identified two important priority areas: Sustainable Transport and Green Finance, including Carbon Pricing.
During the event, Dr. Peerawat Saisirirat, Leader of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Research within the Low Carbon Energy Research Group, along with Mr. Pidpong Janta and Mr. Arthit Champeecharoensuk, actively participated in a workshop aimed at identifying challenges and gaps in Thailand’s Sustainable Transport initiatives. Their participation focused on integrating collaboration with relevant partner agencies, ensuring effective resource management, and prioritizing areas crucial for advancing sustainable transport development across Thailand.
