On 27 October 2025, at Lilawadee Room, Furama Chiang Mai Hotel, Chiang Mai
The National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), under the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), organized a workshop on “Climate-Responsive Investment for Sustainable Transport Infrastructure Toward Thailand’s NDC Goals.” The event was held under the Sustainable Infrastructure in Asia (SIPA) Project, with ENTEC assigned by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Thailand, in collaboration with the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC) and the Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning (OTP). The workshop aimed to strengthen knowledge, understanding, and capacity among local agencies in designing climate investment projects for sustainable transport infrastructure with practical, actionable outcomes.
This Chiang Mai workshop marked the third training session of the SIPA series, following meetings with key agencies and stakeholders in Bangkok, and previous workshops in Phuket and Nakhon Ratchasima. The opening ceremony was honored by Mr. Siwakorn Buapong, Deputy Governor of Chiang Mai, Ms. Punnalak Suraswadi, Director of Logistics Development Strategy Division, NESDC, Mrs. Chutinthorn Mankong, Director, Bureau of Safety Planning, OTP, and Mr. Khan Ram-Indra, Head of Programme at UNDP Thailand. The event brought together over 30 representatives from various sectors.
Dr. Nuwong Chollacoop, Director of the Low-Carbon Energy Research Group, Dr. Kampanart Silva, Researcher from the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Research Team, ENTEC, along with their team, shared insights into the project’s background and significance. The session covered topics such as the guidelines for integrating climate change considerations in transport projects, risk assessment, and cost–benefit analysis of climate investment. They also introduced tools and supporting materials for practical applications.
This workshop served as a vital platform for policy and technical exchange, fostering collaboration among key stakeholders to drive the development of climate-resilient transport infrastructure. The initiative supports Thailand’s economic, social, and quality-of-life goals while contributing to the sustainable achievement of Thailand’s NDC targets.
