The National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC) under the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Thailand, the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC), and the Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning (OTP), successfully organized a comprehensive workshop on “Climate-Resilient Investment for Sustainable Transport Infrastructure Towards Thailand’s NDC Goals”. The event is part of the Sustainable Infrastructure Programme in Asia (SIPA).
The workshop was honored by the presence of Mr. Suwit Phansengiam, Deputy Governor of Phuket, Mr. Khan Ram-Indra, Head of Programme at UNDP Thailand, Mr. Sukit Siwanansakul, Director of the Infrastructure Project Office, NESDC, and Ms. Krittika Buranadis, Senior Transport Policy Analyst at OTP, who jointly presided over the opening ceremony. Additionally, over 40 participants from various related sectors also attended, underscoring the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration in addressing climate challenges.
The workshop aimed to enhance the capacity of stakeholders in designing climate-resilient investment projects within the transport infrastructure sector. Its goal was to equip participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to develop sustainable transportation systems that can effectively adapt to and mitigate the impacts of climate change, while aligning with Thailand’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC).

Dr. Kampanart Silva, a researcher from ENTEC’s Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Research Team, led the technical sessions alongside his expert team. The in-depth sessions on key topics covered:
- Overview and significance of climate investment in transportation under the SIPA project
- Guidelines for integrating climate change factors into transport infrastructure projects
- Climate risk assessment methodologies
- Cost-benefit analysis for climate-related investments
The workshop also featured dynamic knowledge-sharing and discussions with representatives from relevant organizations. Dr. Nuwong Chollacoop, Director of the Low Carbon Energy Research Group at ENTEC, participated in these discussions to support the advancement of climate investment projects and strategies for sustainable infrastructure.
This workshop served not only as a knowledge-sharing platform but also as a catalyst for long-term collaboration among key stakeholders. It aimed to strengthen both the understanding and practical application of sustainable infrastructure principles in addressing climate challenges. The insights and tools shared during the event are expected to empower agencies with aligned mandates to adapt and integrate climate-resilient strategies in their planning, ultimately benefiting economic development, environmental sustainability, and an improved quality of life in Phuket, and throughout Thailand.
