ENTEC co-organizes the workshop entitled “Renewable Energy Technologies and Knowledge Transfer for Strengthening and Achieving ASEAN’s Sustainable Development Goals”

From June 10-28, 2024, at the Lotus Room on the 10th floor of Asia Airport Hotel, Pathum Thani

The National Energy Research Center (ENTEC), led by Dr. Nuwong Chollacoop, Director of the Low Carbon Energy Research Group, in collaboration with the Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR), co-organized a workshop titled “Renewable Energy Technologies and Knowledge Transfer for Strengthening and Achieving ASEAN’s Sustainable Development Goals”, under the Third Country Training Programme (TCTP). The workshop hosted delegates from many ASEAN countries, including Cambodia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Vietnam and Thailand. The program is a three-year project supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA).

During the event, Dr. Nuwong Chollacoop, Dr. Yuji Yoshimura, Dr. Peerawat Saisirirat, Dr. Kampanart Silva and research staff from the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Team delivered lectures and hosted delegates for a tour of ENTEC’s laboratory.

  •  Dr. Nuwong presented “Achieving SDG through Electric Vehicle (EV) Technology,” discussing the transition to electric vehicles as an alternative solution for road transportation
  • Dr. Kampanart also delivered a presentation on “Sustaining SDG through Energy Resilience.”
  • Dr. Yoshimura provided an overview of the “Biodiesel Pilot Plant and Upgrading Unit,” which included a site visit to the biodiesel demonstration unit at TISTR.

  • Dr. Peerawat lectured on the “Overview of Biodiesel Standard – Utilization and Biodiesel Engine Test.” He and his team also led a tour of the Biodiesel Engine Test laboratory at ENTEC, during which the delegates participated in conducting the engine test using B100 biodiesel.

The event successfully achieved its goals of knowledge transfer and providing practical guidelines for the development of biofuel and clean energy technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This initiative contributes to the transition towards achieving Net Zero emissions and supports Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG 7): ensuring access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all.
