ENTEC participated in the regional workshop on Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF)

Dr. Sumittra Charojrochkul, Executive Director of the National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), NSTDA and Dr. Visarn Lilavivat, Researcher from Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Research Team (RENT) ENTEC, participated in the regional workshop on Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) held in Bali, Indonesia from July 10-12, 2024. The event, which brought together experts and stakeholders from across the aviation industry, was organized by a coalition of prestigious organizations including the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Indonesian Directorate General for Civil Aviation (DGCA), the University of Hawaii, and the National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC) of Thailand.

The three-day workshop focused on advancing the development and implementation of SAF to mitigate aviation’s environmental impact. Participants explored the potential of SAF, production methods using renewable feedstocks, waste materials, and industrial waste gases and discussed strategies for overcoming barriers to support SAF implementation.

The workshop featured panels with speakers representing various segments of the SAF value chain, including feedstock producers, conversion facility operators, and distribution experts. Government regulatory agencies and non-governmental organizations also contributed their perspectives on the future of SAF. This event marks a significant milestone in the global effort to transition aviation towards more sustainable fuel sources, highlighting the industry’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint while maintaining safety and performance standards.
