2026.06.05-04 ENTEC, NSTDA Advances Regional Decarbonization and Expands Asian Research Networks on IAM Modeling in China

Dr. Peerawat Saisirirat, Leader of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Research Team, representing the National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), attended the International Workshop on “How to cooperate in IAM modeling activities among Asian research communities.” The event was held from June 4–5, 2026, at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou Campus) in China, co-organized by Yonsei University (South Korea) and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou).

The workshop served as a vital platform for leading Asian research institutes to foster collaboration on the application of Integrated Assessment Models (IAM) to support global and regional greenhouse gas mitigation targets. During the sessions, Dr. Peerawat shared Thailand’s strategic approach to utilizing biofuels as a critical short-term transition solution for the transport sector.

The event featured intensive discussions on international energy perspectives, highlighting the contexts of China and South Korea, alongside pathways for greenhouse gas emission reductions in the Philippines’ power sector. Furthermore, participants explored innovative concepts in integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) across various domains and visited the advanced AI laboratory (ICSC IoT), showcasing its versatile, state-of-the-art technological applications.

ENTEC’s successful participation marks a significant milestone in strengthening academic ties and high-level research partnerships with international counterparts, paving the way for future collaborative policy realization and sustainable energy transitions across Asia.
