The National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), led by Dr. Somboon Sahasithiwat, Executive Director, and Dr. Nuwong Chollacoop, Acting Deputy Executive Director, visited the Republic of Peru from 24–30 August 2026 to participate in the “Future of Smart Mobility: Driving Resource-Efficient Transportation with Cutting-Edge Technologies” workshop under the APEC Policy Partnership on Science, Technology and Innovation (PPSTI). The visit also aimed to strengthen research networks and explore opportunities for cooperation in clean energy and sustainable mobility.
On 26 August 2026, the ENTEC delegation paid a courtesy call on H.E. Ms. Ek-on Khunacharoen, Ambassador of Thailand to Peru, in Lima. The delegation received a warm welcome and valuable support from the Royal Thai Embassy in Lima, particularly in coordinating meetings and connecting ENTEC with leading research and relevant organizations in Peru.
During the meeting, ENTEC presented its role in applying science, technology, and innovation to support Thailand’s energy development, with a focus on Energy Transition, decarbonization, and sustainable energy systems. The two sides also exchanged views on opportunities to strengthen Thailand–Peru cooperation through the APEC framework, particularly in clean energy, decarbonization technologies, Smart Mobility, and resource efficiency.
With the Embassy’s support and coordination, the ENTEC delegation also held discussions with three key organizations in Peru: H2 Perú (Peruvian Hydrogen Association), Instituto de la Naturaleza, Tierra y Energía (INTE) of Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (INTE-PUCP), and Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería (UNI). The discussions explored potential collaboration in Energy Transition and Green Hydrogen, covering policy research, technology development, and industry engagement.
These engagements provided valuable opportunities to exchange knowledge, experience, and technological perspectives, while exploring potential applications of Green Hydrogen and energy storage in transportation and logistics. Such collaboration could help connect Smart Mobility with the transition toward more efficient and sustainable energy systems.
