On 19 June 2026, Dr. Boonyawan Yoosuk, Leader of the Clean Fuel and Advanced Chemistry Research Team, together with researchers from the National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), welcomed representatives from the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) during their visit to observe accelerated aging tests of transformers filled with EnPAT (Safe Bio-based Transformer Oil from Thai Palm Oil), a safe and sustainable transformer insulating oil developed by ENTEC from Thai palm oil.
The visit took place at the High Voltage Research Laboratory, Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT). The delegation was welcomed by Asst. Prof. Dr. Supakit Chotigo, Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering, and his team, who provided technical insights and facilitated in-depth discussions throughout the visit.
During the session, Asst. Prof. Dr. Supakit, one of the co-developers of EnPAT, shared knowledge on the thermal aging evaluation process of EnPAT, covering studies conducted at the laboratory scale through to testing in a 6 kVA single-phase power transformer filled with EnPAT. The delegation also observed the ongoing testing activities, which demonstrate EnPAT’s potential and readiness for practical deployment in power systems.
MEA is among the pioneering organizations adopting EnPAT technology. On 10 October 2025, MEA installed an EnPAT-filled power transformer in Lat Krabang District, Bangkok, marking an important milestone in the deployment of innovative technologies to enhance the safety, reliability, and efficiency of electrical distribution systems.
The visit also provided an opportunity for CFCT ENTEC, MEA, and KMUTT to exchange perspectives and operational experiences regarding the use of EnPAT in transformers, as well as discuss approaches for long-term monitoring and performance evaluation. The three organizations share a common goal of advancing the wider adoption of EnPAT, particularly within the industrial sector, reflecting MEA’s commitment to promoting safe, environmentally friendly, and sustainable energy innovations for Thailand’s future.
